Balispirit Yoga Studio Jln Hanoman #44B, Padang Tegal, Ubud.
The KAFE
Offering up an exciting new menu, Ubud's popular eatery
KAFE now includes a lineup of specialty main course meals. Created with
healthy and vegetarian eating in mind, the new selections will complete the
fabulous soups, sandwiches, light meals and desserts already offered to guests.
Not to forget a phenomenal list of cold drinks and specialty teas & coffees
found in the greatest of international coffee houses.
Sukma Healing Center
As owner and creator of Sukma
Healing Center, Jan put it perfectly when she asked “Where else in
Bali can you get a Tarot reading and a great Cappuccino all at the same
time!” One could even dare ask where else in Asia?
Located in Tebesaya, Ubud, Sukma is a quaint healing center and restaurant
offering all a chance to escape and unwind. Channeling as Marriam, Jan offers
individual Tarot reading sessions and also a full day workshop that
“initiates you into (the) ancient wisdom” of Tarot.
Along with her own unique specialties, Jan also offers private sessions and
workshops with other local and visiting healers. And the food is great, too!
— all reason enough to take some time out to visit Sukma Healing Center.
Dek's Studio - woodworking for the home and garden
At Dek's Studio, imagination and creativity merge to become beauty and
function. Kadek Gunarta began his quest to restore and preserve the culture of
his island people, using traditional hand tools to create new and contemporary
home and garden furnishings from recycled hardwood, mainly teak. Everything
from Dek's Studio is hand made, hand rubbed, hand finished and hand checked.
The look is today, the aura is yesterday. Recycling in this way is not only
environmentally friendly and ethical, but also elegant.
Dek's Studio produces exclusive, one of a kind and limited production pieces
for wholesale and export from Bali to your home country. Join Kadek in
preserving Balinese tradition in an environmentally responsible manner. Come
have a look at his showroom!
Retail showroom is located at
Tegun Galeri – Jln Hanoman 44B, Ubud – Bali.

2nd Annual Ubud Writers and Readers Festival
Hot off the success of the first festival, the 2nd Annual Ubud Writer's and
Reader's Festival promises to be even better! The following excerpt is from
their website
www.casalunabali.com...
Sit back and enjoy one of life's greatest pleasures in one of the world's most
beautiful settings. Join readers and writers in four days of stimulating and
inspiring discussion, poetry readings, conversations, workshops, literary
lunches, laughter and festivities amongst people who David Attenborough
described as one of the friendliest on earth.
This year's Festival brings together some of the world's most exciting writers.
Join Booker Prize winner, Michael Ondaatje, as he reveals his magical pose and
poetry in a discussion of his life and work.
Amitav Ghosh will lead you on a romantic adventure through Egypt and India over
a leisurely lunch. Be humored by Susan Kurosawa as she tells you a tale of
love, lies and lust from her latest novel. Professor Arief Budiman will
describe our theme, Between Worlds, and its meaning to Indonesia in modern
times. Listen to award-winning writer, Achmat Dangor, discuss the Bitter Fruits
of his latest book and growing up in South Africa. Join some of Indonesia's
hottest women writers as they discuss erotica and the written word. Nia Dinata,
Indonesia's prize-winning young female film producer will discuss the
challenges of film-making in Indonesia. Listen to Linda Spalding as she
recounts her adventures in Borneo researching the Orang Utan. Hear the voice of
Indonesia's exciting, young emerging writers and share in a discussion of
Balinese spirituality.
Sharpen your poetry skills and join in an open-mike poetry slam that will have
you laughing for days. Enroll in a workshop and learn how to write a play,
song, memoir or illustrate a story. Enjoy a night of Balinese entertainment in
a village temple, under the stars.
Let the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival change your world. There is no
other event like it!
“Ubud has staged a writers festival which is a fitting testament to
the artistic, co-operative and above all, friendly town it has always been.
This festival should be destined to become one of the great cultural exchanges
of the Asian region.” — Larry Buttrose
Nyoman Sumerta – Spiritually based wood carvings
Gianyar local Nyoman Sumerta was raised in the artistic wood carving community
of Siangan village. From a young boy, Nyoman learned how to carve and design
creative works in many types of wood. Now he has turned his carvings into
spiritually based designs. Taking inspiration from yoga, Balinese Hinduism and
classical Indian motifs, Nyoman creates designs that made one client exclaim:
“Nyoman doesn't just carve deities. He carves the essence of the deity
into each piece!”
Nyoman has sold his product in Bali to people from all over the world and in
Canada where he created an original design for the Royal Ontario Museum's
traveling exhibition of South and Southeast Asian art. Nyoman can be contacted
