Balispirit Festival Night Performances
The BaliSpirit Festival is a leader among a new generation of festivals for the rapidly growing holistic travel marketplace. Combining over 95 yoga, dance and music workshops with nightly world music concerts, this annual event provides a platform of inspiration and the opportunity to affect positive change.
This year BaliSpirit Festival proudly presents world-class musicians from five continents to energize the five-nights World Music Concerts, which will be held in Arma Museum Ubud Bali from March 31 – April 4 (5-11 p.m). The inspiring music concert will provide a space for dozens of International artists to collaborate and perform their masterpieces in the spirit of learning, sharing and celebrating the world’s cultural diversity. BaliSpirit World Music Concert is proudly sponsored by Kondom Fiesta.
Diabate, Mamadou – Mali
Grammy Award winning musician Mamadou Diabate is a member of the Mandinka West African Jeli (musician caste) family. His musical lineage goes back seven centuries to the time of Sunjata Keita, the conqueror of the Malian empire. He keeps alive the tradition of Kora. Mamadou has been generously funded by the PT. Ryoshindo.
Giri, Ganga – Australia
Hailing from Australia, Ganga Giri personifies the sound of Traditional Australia. His ensemble mixes pumping, percussive Didjeridu, fat tribal beats and funky dub bass lines with world percussion sounds. Ganga will be collaborating with Balinese Gamelan Master Nyoman Windha, generously funded by the Australian Government.
Kultiration - Sweden
With grounding messages and music ranging from deep to elevated, from introspective to ecstatic, the band has found a style that is now most easily labeled as simply ‘Kultiration’. The band’s intensity and presence on stage has earned it a strong reputation as Scandinavia’s leading Reggae band. Kulitration has been generously funded by the Sweedish Government.
Lynx and Jamie Janover – USA
LYNX & Janover have established themselves as pioneers of a unique brand of electro-acoustic music by creating a diversified harmonic blend of all original hip-hop and down-tempo electronica grooves. Big warm bass and sophisticated beats combined with LYNX’s incredible songwriting and Jamie Janover’s melodic and percussive genius puts them in a league of their own.
Moses, Afro - Ghana
This dynamic dreadlocked showman from Africa will blow you away with his unique blend of Afro-fusion- Reggae, Afro percussion and lots more. A multi-award winning artist, Afro Moses enchants listeners with his high-energy music, powerful messages, showmanship and colorful international stage shows guaranteed to uplift, transport, inspire and move all involved.
Sabbah, Cheb I – Algeria
Cheb i Sabbah, an Algerian of Barbar descent, moved to Paris in the 1960s, and became a DJ more or less by accident. By the late 1980s he was pushing boundaries on the dance floor, working African, Asian, and Arabic music into the mix. As the ‘world music’ movement unfolded, Cheb i Sabbah became a true musical iconoclast and visionary on the contemporary scene.
Samian - French Canadian
An Aboriginal Canadian, Samian spent his first 12 years on a Metis reservation. He became interested in poetry and began to write. Samian won a competition and when it came time to recite his poem, he spontaneously decided to rap instead of reading it. Loco Lacass discovered him and invited him to rap on stage, where Samian had to prove himself on the spot. The rest is history. He has generously funded by the Sweedish Government.
I Nyoman Windha - Bali
Born in Gianyar, Bali, I Nyoman Windha is one of the leading musicians and contemporary composers of Balinese music.His compositions have been incorporated into the standard repertoire of Balinese performing groups and many have won awards at Bali's annual Gamelan Competition. He has traveled and taught extensively around the world. For BaliSpirit Festival, Pak Nyoman will be collaborating with Australian Ganga Giri, generously funded by the Australian Government.
