The festival follows the success of The Kitchen programs at the previous year's Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, which led to the organizers and committee to come up with this sibling festival driven by the passion to share the rich heritage of Indonesian cuisine to the world. Tumpek Uduh, is in reverence of plants, in particular large trees, fruit-bearers, or those considered useful to humans. The trees are dressed up and sometimes struck during the ceremony in the hope that it will continue to bear fruit for our consumption.


July 14, 2015 Penampahan Galungan, Galungan eve sees all Balinese households busy preparing for the following day, by decorating curved bamboo poles with elements of harvests and natural items, such as rice, fruit, coconuts, and leaves. These penjor poles symbolize the blessing by Mother Nature. When complete, these ornamental bamboo poles provide a unique sight, lining every road throughout Bali. Hari Raya Galungan, This is the most important holiday symbolizing the victory of Virtue (Dharma) upon Evil (Adharma). The holiday is specialized by the fitting of 'penjor', a tall bamboo pole splendidly decorated with woven young coconut leaves, fruit, cakes and flowers, on the right side of every house entrance. July 18-20, 2015 (TBA) The 36th Annual Bali Kites Festival 2015, The Bali Kite Festival is slated for its 36th celebration this year, as an annual feast among the Balinese as they regard the art of kite making and piloting highly. The event is also anticipated by the international community as it provides rare opportunities to enjoy gigantic traditional kites built with contemporary designs. The festival usually takes place around the start of the windy season, somewhere between the end of June through August, and is slated for 18-20 July this year. August 7-8, 2015 Ubud Village Jazz Festival, The second Ubud Village Jazz Festival is slated for August this year. The event once again will bring together a lineup of various Jazz artists from Indonesia and all over the globe. August 26 - 30, 2015 Sanur Village Festival, The Sanur Village Festival attracts large numbers of international visitors to this small coastal village east of Denpasar.
