January 2008 - Making a difference in the New Year
Its the end of the rainy season in Bali and as New Years Eve in Ubud closed with a wild electric storm; 2007 has passed like a bolt of lightning. Cutting through the world's skin so severe that it is as though mother earth needs stiching up again. Amongst the natural disasters, wars and assasinations there is the delicate balancing act going on, where, rising above all the negativity is a beauty, a resonance, a peacefulness and a desire to do good. Bali has been a part of this balance.
This past December, Bali was home the International Climate Change Conference where more than ten thousand participants came together in dialog. The Bali Road Map was given life, with a clear agenda to tackle some serious issues, like: "action for adapting to the negative consequences of climate change, such as droughts and floods; ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; ways to widely deploy climate-friendly technologies and financing both adaptation and mitigation measures." The dialog is still on going, with a goal of 2009, but it is a step in the right direction.
Bali will be a gathering place once again, in March of 2008, for the invocation of the First Annual Balispirit Festival - a Celebration of Yoga, Music, Dance & Gratitude. Infused with a Karma Yoga component, a percentage of proceeds from the festival will go to a Women's Birthing Clinic in Bali - sustaining healthy & gentle births for generations to come.
Join us for this event, let it be a catalyst for positive change in your life & for those in Bali! See below for more information.
Blessings to you and yours in the New year...............
