The 4th annual U_Booo_D Halloween Ball,
Ubud - Bali
The Annual U-Booo-D Halloween Ball, www.uboood.com, held this year on Halloween Eve, October 30, on the grounds of Antonio Blanco Museum, is not only an exciting evening out, but is a key source of economic support and development for thousands of Balinese living on the edge of survival in east Bali. Through the event, the Rotary Club of Ubud Bali will fund-raise for the Bali Rural Development Project, radically transforming the lives of thousands of people as it brings water, jobs, health and education to families in east Bali.
In the harsh daily reality in the Soraya region of Karangasem, East Bali, families in huts on the lava terraces of Mt Agung have no electricity or running water, and are cut off from schools, transport and health services. This isolation and lack of education make it nearly impossible for them to integrate with outside society. This is a side of Bali we rarely see or hear about, and why this fund-raiser is so important.
In its fourth year, the U-Boo-D Halloween Ball is a highlight on the Bali social calendar, attracting over 500, ex-pats, tourists and Indonesian guests last year alone. If you've heard the buzz on the streets of Ubud, this year’s event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever…
As the Rotary Club of Ubud might describe it: ‘The spectacularly spOOky Blanco 'Haunted' Museum and gardens are the perfect setting for a frighteningly fun filled evening for kids and adults. Raffles, silent auctions, prizes for best costumes and other scary surprises will keep entertainment running through the night. For those out of time or ideas over what ghoul wear to wear, visit the Rotary costume shop, open three days before at Goddess on the Go shop, Jl Pengosekan, and at the event itself, to rent or purchase.
The musical lineup for the Halloween Ball is a headliner in itself. Guests can kick up their heels, rattle their bones and get down on the dance floor to a tropical Jazz funk fusion of West meets East. Saucey Soul Singer Jim Larkin and hot guitarist Neil Stallings will join three of Indonesia's most outstanding Jazz musicians, Ito Kurdhi on bass, Erik Sondlhy on keyboard and Eddy Siswanti on drums, with mesmerizing West African solo percussionist Kalifa Hema on balafon, tama and djembe. And Funky Soul Sauce, served extra hot as they bring it to you live. See www.uboood.com/line-up for complete line-up.’
