The Yoga Barn - Daily Yoga Classes
The Yoga Barn©, located in Ubud, is dedicated entirely to Yoga, Movement and Healing, for the sole purpose of bringing together Community. Conscious decisions have been made to make the space as environmentally friendly as possible. Wooden structures have been recycled from antique timber, no chemicals have been used in treatment, mud walls and paints are all natural, staircase railings are made out of oxen plowshare handles, roofs are made of traditional Indonesian grass-thatch.
Our desirable location in Ubud will allows yogi’s & yogini’s alike to take advantage of Bali’s beautiful mountain scenery, many multicultural offerings, the warmth of its people, boutique shopping, luxurious spas, international food, and a peaceful easy-going lifestyle.

Early Bird Yoga with Lou - Open Level
Early Bird Yoga with Lou takes place every Monday, Wednesday & Friday @ 7:00am

Pilates on the Mat with Kate Olson - Beginner
The perfect class for those with little to no experience in Pilates. This class will walk you through the basic concepts and fundamentals of  The Pilates Method as you discover your core muscles and balance the body with both strength and flexibility. This class is open to all levels. Discover the beauty of an inner strength that will carry you through life!
Beginner Pilates on the Mat takes place every Monday, Wednesday at 10:30am

Pilates on the Mat with Kate Olson - Intermediate/Advanced
This class is for those with previous experience in The Pilates Method. Moving at a quicker pace with more advanced techniques and positions, you will cultivate strength throughout the entire body, with an emphasis on the core. By incorporating stretching and breath work along with the traditional Pilates Mat exercises, you will discover how to work on a deeper level increasing your overall strength, connections, and precision.
Int/Adv Pilates on the Mat takes place every Friday at 10:30am

Forrest Yoga with Cat - Open Level
Forrest Yoga awakens core strength through vigorous sequencing and long posture holds that oxygenate and rejuvenate every cell in the body. These classes strip numbness from the core, release emotional shielding and heal injuries.

Power hour is an invigorating workout that taps into your main manipura chakra (energy) center. Builds strength in the core and throughout the body featuring arm balances, abdominal work, leg lifts, etc … A lively energetic class.

Harmonic Flow with Cello is heart opening and deeply relaxing. A gentle restorative meditation of expressive body flow, listening to the body’s impulses to both move and be still. Opens energy channels by absorbing the vibration of live cello melodies.

Samba Dance with Rucina - Open Level
Samba Dance with Rucina is a Latin-inspired aerobic workout for the soul. Stokes the red-blooded fire within to shake, rattle and roll the body’s cares away.

Sound Healing Meditation with Tibetan Bells with Arun
Sound Healing Meditation with Tibetan Bells with Arun is an inward massage of the spirit. Ethereal, hemispherical and gracefully beautiful, the Tibetan Bowls transport to a deep state of meditative bliss.

Movement Meditations with Salena inspires active, self-expressive movement primarily through dance. Ever-evolving, changing and utilizing different therapies, Salena weaves a tapestry of poetic flow guiding one’s inward journey.

Monday Movies @ The Yoga Barn© with Charley
Monday Movies @ The Yoga Barn is a bi-weekly event. Always esoteric and eclectic, films chosen are primarily thought-provoking documentaries addressing the social issues of the day. Free popcorn and a pillow-strewn yoga floor allows a community gathering place of respite and comfort.
Monday Movies @ The Yoga Barn with Charley takes place every other Monday.

Beginner Level & Yoga Basics:
Great for those just starting out, for those who want a refresher on basic alignment principles, or for those seeking a more gentle experience.

Open Level:
This level is geared for all levels of yoga, from beginner to advanced. Beginners are welcome but will have more of a challenge as it is not a beginner class.

The Yoga Barn© comprises two studios: an upstairs that accommodates up to 45 students, a downstairs that accommodates 20

The upstairs studio is available to rent for large groups, retreats, workshops and special events. The studio is equipped with blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps and mats. We have changing rooms and shower facilities, organic food catering from KAFE, two lovely garden areas for eating, relaxing, chatting or enjoying a fresh squeezed juice. We have on-site pilates, separate bungalows for massage treatments and wellness practitioners. We even have an exotic bird aviary!

Whether you are a yoga-enthused traveler looking to drop in and practice with us for a few days, or a teacher interested to bring a group to our enchanted island hideaway, we’re here to please.

The Yoga Barn© is perfect for long retreats, weekend workshops, daily classes or special events.

Upstairs Studio: open-air, 280° degree panoramic rice-paddy view, wood floors, 8x12m, holds 30 comfortably, max 45. Sound system, ipod compatible, movie screen/projector set up. (Rectangular shape, also great for dancing.)

Downstairs Studio: open-air, rice-paddy and back garden view, wood floors, 8x8m, holds 17 comfortably, max 20. Sound system, ipod compatible. (Square shape, also great for intimate dining.)

On-Site Staff: dedicated to guest services, answer questions, maintains facilities meticulously clean, fulfill teacher needs.

Male / Female Changing Rooms: include toilets & showers (must bring your own towel)

The Healing Hut: visiting practitioners available for sessions on-site (for example: massage, cranio-sacral, acupuncture, reiki treatments, etc…)

On-Premise Kitchen: Used for catering to groups needs or rented out for personal use (basic food preparation facility). .

Studio Structure & Class Pricing

Our Classes are drop-in and open level, unless otherwise mentioned, and are taught in a non-competitive and compassionate way. We provide all the props needed for class but we suggest that you bring a water bottle and sarong or small towel of your own.

Drop in Classes:
  • Single Class Rate = RP 90,000 (approximately US$10.00)
  • For Ex-pats who live in Bali and are Holders of an Indonesian Visa or KITAS, we have a special membership that allows you to pay-per-class for Rp.60,000 each time. You must live in Bali, not on another island, to receive this benefit.
  • For Balinese Citizens classes are on donation

Other Details about the multi-class cards:

  • Cards can be used for all yoga classes at The Yoga Barn, except Tibetan Bells Meditation (donation only).
  • Cards are non-transferable (one card per person, can not be shared by a couple) and if you do not use your classes by the expiry date on the card, you lose any left over classes.
  • For those on a short term stay in Ubud, starting with a 5 class package may be your best option so not to lose classes.
  • Cards are valid for regular YOGA classes only and are NOT valid for Balispirit and/or The Yoga Barn classes/workshops with guest teachers unless otherwise indicated.
  • Cards are for YOGA only and cannot be traded in on merchandise.

Bali yoga with Patrick

At Balispirit we are always interested in accepting resumes for visiting teachers (internationally certified) who are willing to stay in Bali for at least 60 days. It is not easy to make a living teaching yoga in Bali, as classes can sometimes be slim (when not the tourist season) and it takes time to build up a reputation as a new teacher. If you have an auxiliary career as a holistic practitioner, for example, you could also do that for extra income. So if you want to come for the love of teaching and/or because you have the desire to experience Bali, we welcome you. If there is room in our schedule we will do our best to accommodate any new class and style of teaching you have to offer. If your priority is to make money, then we would suggest you plan a few retreats ahead of time and advertise them to your home students/studios.
