Everything You Need to Know Before You Arrive

Planning your trip to BaliSpirit Festival?

Whether this is your first time visiting Bali or you've been here many times before, a little preparation can make your journey much smoother.

This guide covers the essentials—from visas and airport arrival to the Bali Tourist Levy and a few helpful travel tips.

As travel regulations may change, we always recommend checking the latest information with the official Indonesian authorities before your departure.

 

Visa Requirements

Visa requirements depend on your nationality.

Many visitors can enter Indonesia using a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA), while citizens of some countries may be eligible for visa-free entry.

Before travelling, please make sure to:

  • Check whether your nationality requires a visa.
  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
  • Have proof of your onward or return flight available.
  • Be prepared to show proof of accommodation if requested by immigration.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

For many travellers, the Visa on Arrival is the easiest option.

At the time of writing:

  • Valid for 30 days
  • Extendable once for another 30 days
  • Available upon arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport
  • Can also be obtained online before travelling through the official Indonesian e-Visa system

Bali Tourist Levy

International visitors are required to pay the Bali Tourist Levy, which helps preserve Bali's culture, traditions, and natural environment.

We recommend completing the payment before your arrival to make your airport experience quicker and easier.

Please keep a copy of your payment confirmation during your stay.

 

Electronic Customs Declaration

Before arriving in Indonesia, travellers are required to complete an Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD).

This can be completed online before your flight or upon arrival.

Preparing it in advance can help speed up your arrival process.

 

Health Information

At this time, there are no COVID-specific entry requirements for most international visitors.

However, travel requirements can change.

We recommend checking with your airline and the official Indonesian authorities before your departure for any updates.

 

Money

Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and many shops around Ubud, but it's still useful to carry some cash for local markets, small cafés, taxis, and village shops.

ATMs are widely available throughout Bali.

 

Internet & SIM Cards

Need to stay connected?

You can purchase local SIM cards or eSIM packages from providers such as Telkomsel, XL, and Indosat.

SIM cards are available at the airport, convenience stores, and mobile phone shops throughout Bali.

Free Wi-Fi is also available at many cafés, hotels, and restaurants.

 

Airport Transfers

Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar) is approximately 1.5–2 hours from Ubud, depending on traffic.

We recommend arranging your airport transfer before arriving or using trusted taxi services from the airport.

If your accommodation offers airport transfers, booking in advance is often the easiest option.

 

What to Pack

Bali is warm and tropical throughout the year.

We recommend bringing:

  • Light, breathable clothing
  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals
  • A reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Natural mosquito repellent
  • Swimwear
  • Rain jacket or poncho (especially during the rainy season)
  • A light sweater for cooler evenings

If you're attending yoga or movement classes, don't forget comfortable activewear.

 

Before You Arrive

A quick checklist before your flight:

Visiting BaliSpirit Festival

We encourage guests to arrive at least one day before the festival begins.

This gives you time to settle into your accommodation, recover from your journey, and explore beautiful Ubud before the celebrations begin.

Many visitors also choose to stay a few extra days after the festival to enjoy Bali's beaches, waterfalls, temples, cafés, and wellness experiences.
