If you are a morning person, you will love sitting at the desk in the office, softly serenaded by the chorus of frogs from the (name) river below. About 6AM the far away cocks begin to crow, and streaks of pink and blue start to light up the sky, revealing a panoramic view of flowering treetops, and to the left, the crown of Gunung Agung, Bali’s most sacred volcano. By 6: 30, the entire vast spread of our well-maintained, terraced garden are revealed, with a host of fruit trees including guava, jackfruit, coconut, mangoseen, and banana, and plethora of birds gather to announce the beginning of the day.
You might want to make use of our full set of yoga props, and stretch out in one of the spacious open areas, or take advantage of the silence with meditation.
Because we both cook, our kitchen is fully supplied with all you might need, including staples, to make breakfast. But if you want to sleep in, you will have plenty of privacy, as the housekeeper does not arrive until almost 9 (departing at noon), and the entire house is cleaned every day.
If you have a motor bike, you can drive all the way to the Villa—otherwise it is a 5 minute (flat, paved, safe) rice field walk to the road. This distance provides unique quiet, privacy and security. Once there, it is a mere 10 minute drive to Ubud.
Around 2, the gardeners arrive, and work discreetly, until preparing the house for the evening, departing around 6. If you choose not to spend the night in Ubud, you can enjoy our vast library, or our large CD or DVD collection, and if you choose not to cook, numerous excellent cafes in Ubud are one phone call away, and will deliver your meals for less than a dollar. Generally the evenings are quiet, except for the cicadas, although you might be treated to the music of the Gamelan if there is a temple festival across the river in Mas village.
